High Demand

With over 300 current job openings in Central Texas, the demand for LVN’s is continuing to rise. As the Baby Boom aged population retires, the demand to produce a sufficient of replacements will soar.

Job Security

Needed in hospitals, doctors’ offices, urgent care center and home health agencies, among other job options.

Flexibility

Most LVN’s work standard daytime hours, but the 24/7 nature of healthcare makes night and weekend schedules an option too, particularly in hospitals, ER’s and Urgent Care Facilities.

The Vocational Nursing Program degree plan consists of a total of 43 semester credit hours: seven (7) semester credit hours consist of non-nursing courses that are recommended to be taken prior to entering the program. Thirty-six (36) semester credit hours of nursing coursework includes classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. The curriculum leads to a Certificate in Vocational Nursing.

Graduates are able to apply to the Texas Board of Nursing for licensure and to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

Note: Students must have a high school diploma/GED, be proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking skills), are at least eighteen (18) years of age, and have a clean criminal record.

MEDIAN SALARY

$50,557

New workers start around $40,036. Normal pay is $50,557 per year. Highly experienced workers can earn up to $66,479.
