Certified Nursing Assistant

The Smithville Workforce Training Center in collaboration Towers Nursing Home offers a course for adults to become Certified Nurse Assistants.

Students who attend on a full-time basis usually complete the program within 5 weeks. In addition to class work, students will learn hands-on during Clinical Rotations.

Phlebotomy

Smithville Workforce Training Center in collaboration with Career Academy offer a class for adults to earn a Phlebotomy Certification.

This course prepares students to sit for the National Health Careers Association Certified Phlebotomy Technician Examination (CPT).

Students who attend on a full-time basis usually complete the program within 6 weeks. In addition to class work, students will learn hands-on during Field Internships & Clinical Internship Rotations.

EMT

Emergency Medical Technician

Smithville Workforce Training Center and Texas Public Service Training Academy are collaborating to offer a class for adults to complete an Emergency Medical Technician certification course.

This course will teach basic emergency medical care at the EMT level. Upon successful completion, students will be able to take National Registry Examination for EMT and apply for Texas Department of State Health Services certification as an EMT upon passing the NREMT Exam.

In addition to class work, you will have Field Internship and Clinical Internship Rotations (5 Shifts,12 hours each). There is a mandatory assessment and orientation before classes begin, and is a mandatory requirement for the sponsorship of the class.

Veterinary Assistant

Smithville Workforce Training Center in collaboration with Career Step offers a course for adults to gain Veterinary Assistant knowledge to begin your new career.

This course prepares students for the Veterinary Assistant final exam.

In as little as 4 months, you can be prepared for a successful new career as a veterinary assistant!

Our 188-hour program is divided into 17 in-depth courses. As you progress, you’ll gain more knowledge and experience that will prepare you to find work in your field.

LVN

Licensed Vocational Nurse

The Vocational Nursing Program degree plan consists of a total of 43 semester credit hours: seven (7) semester credit hours consist of non-nursing courses that are recommended to be taken prior to entering the program. Thirty-six (36) semester credit hours of nursing coursework includes classroom, laboratory and clinical learning experiences. The curriculum leads to a Certificate in Vocational Nursing.

Graduates are able to apply to the Texas Board of Nursing for licensure and to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN) to become a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (Intern)

LCDC Intern Practicum Course Outline:

  • 1 year course

  • 9 months of academic studies for a total of 270 hours

  • 3 months of practicum for a total of 300 hours

  • Classes will consist of virtual and in person.
